FOOSBALL 2012

foosball
4 Overall Score

Anyone for a little Foos?

Lampard tries that shot again.

I never really got the hang of table football. I found it a lot more fun with other players, as trying to control all of the players at the same time was a bit of a nightmare. Especially after a few pints.

Grip Digital have thought about this it seems, since for this version all four rows of players are controlled simultaneously via the left stick, while the action of shooting and passing is dealt with by the right. And that’s pretty much all there is to it.

The main aim of the world tour, which serves as the single player aspect of the game in which you aim to complete the twenty teams featured. Along the way you will find the rules changing slightly each time, with the aim of the game changing and the difficulty of your opponents increasing as you progress further. Success at these games unlocks different options for you to play yourself outside of the career modes, and different looks for your players.

Spot the ball.

As you earn points for your victories, you can unlock some skill shots to aid you in your play (or you can pay to unlock them from the store) and if you can get them to work may give you a slight advantage for a while, and these are activated by the face buttons.

It all looks nice enough, for what it is, there is very little in terms of sounds though aside from the extremely repetetive noise of the ball clunking around. The game also benefits from cross buy and cross save features, which is great for those with a PS3, one copy on both systems and the ability to take your progress with you on the road, which is a nice touch but this game is unlikely to really serve any longeivity. It may be fun for a while and in short bursts, but very quickly gets frustrating, and for myself at least, may have you yearning for some proper football.

  • It’s a decent approximation of Foosball
  • It has cross buy and cross save
  • It gets very annoying, and quickly
  • It’s pretty expensive for what it is

Tried the demo of this and I thought it was pretty boring. Looks like I was right! Nice review :-)

That’s about all I could say about it…and was more fun writing the review. No offense Grip!

I love this game! I think your 2 points off with the score. I would have give it a 6. I know it’s repetitive but that’s foosball for you. I think it’s just one of those games you play for a time killer when your waiting for your appointment or something like that. I know reviews are based on opinion and hate that by the way. I think reviews should be based on how the game works, graphics, online play, game play, and then a section on opinion. Sorry for ranting! First time to your site and it’s awesome!!!

Thanks for your points! I understand where you are coming from entirely, and fully understand where you would like it and prefer a higher score, similar I suppose to me giving declassified a 6 rather than the mauling it has got everywhere else.

      Welcome to the site too!

Thanks Paul, glad to be here! Your review was actually good! That is why I like this site!

It’s difficult to gage review scores as you have to mix your opinion of the game and try to cover all bases. I do agree with what Paul said though. I gave MUD an 8 whereas other reviewers gave it less, but I really enjoyed it.

I think the score is based on opinion but as long as the review covers what the game is like, what it offers and who would like it in as much detail as possible then that’s all that matters. Too many reviews don’t explain enough about games imo. I feel that the vita lounge reviews do and I enjoy reading them all.

This is what the scoring system is to guide though, although it might cause eyebrows to rise, our definition of a 4 is that fans of it might find something to enjoy, wheras a 6 is average.

The game is certainly not average from my point of view, it is poor but can see where fans might enjoy it.

Which is what it says in the definition of a 4. :)

I agree with matt smith! Reviews should cover what the game does. Gameplay, graphics, story, online, mechanics and then personal opinion. I think the problem is there is no gaming standard to compare to. By reading your reviews I can tell atleast you guys spend time with the game and I appreciate that! I can see how this scored a 4 by your standard on the site.
